Indy Car Class Rules- 1.3125" (1-5/16") wide

Indy Class is the open tall wheel class.


Chassis Specifications

Maximum tech width= 1.3125" (1-5/16")

Only Aurora or Model Motoring copper T-jet chassis
Chassis must remain stock without modifications

No venting, lightening or trimming allowed

Chassis gear plate rails maybe trimmed except under clip

No weight maybe added to chassis

No metal bearings allowed

Guide Pin maybe glued


Armature
Any stock Aurora T-jet or Model Motoring armature 

Grey tip 2 lam is allowed. 

Minimum ohm of 16 

Armature can be balanced and trued

No Rewinds or De-winds allowed.


Electrical System
Stock copper chassis - no modifications
Brushes - flat copper open (maybe scored)
Any copper pickup shoe allowed, no ski shoes (maybe restricted)


Magnets
Original TJet Aurora magnets- Green/White, Green/Orange, Black/Black, Black/Black with White Stripe and OS3 "Red Dragon" only - no modifications.
Magnets may be shimmed with plastics or non-ferrous metal.

No killer bee magnets.


Gears 

Aurora or Model Motoring Brass - stock or stock replacement 

Beveled gears are not allowed 

Gears may be polished/sanded 

Shimming is allowed with plastic or non-ferrous material Stock Aurora crown gear or any other aftermarket crown gear for 9-tooth pinion.
9 tooth pinion only
Crown gear can be aftermarket no smaller than .300 inch


Axles
Any axle allowed
All wheels must be plastic
Double Flange Wheels are allowed
HO Reproductions, ZoominMotorsports, JW, RTHO,FLR, etc.
Truck axle hole will be used for front axle

Tires
Fronts can be any slip on tire Min .420 inch
Rears can be any slip on tire Min .460 inch
Tire width shall be no wider than .175 (AJ’s Width)
Tires may be made of silicone
Tires may be glued to the hubs


Bodies 

  1. Bodies shall be injection molded plastic when using original Aurora, Atlas, Tyco, etc. or resin cast (no feather light resin allowed) based on original Indy or GP car.
  2. Bodies may be lightened but must meet the minimum weight requirement with 2 screws of 3.0 grams.
  3. Bodies must be complete with windshield, drivers, roll bars and other accessories which accompanied the car as originally manufactured.
  4. Bodies must contain the original two screw posts. The original position of screw posts must remain intact and shall not be relocated to suit a different setup or wheelbase. Further, the posts shall be included and designed as part of the body specifically for mounting to an Aurora Thunder Jet Chassis.
  5. Body must be fastened securely to the chassis using two screws.
  6. There shall be no substitute materials for original injection molded plastic windows used by Aurora, Atlas, Tyco, etc. Resin cast bodies must have glass comparable in thickness to original bodies.
  7. Drivers are required in all cars.
